It's a beautiful 110 year old school house! With hard wood floors and stage. There is a full kitchen with refrigerator and microwave so feel free to bring your lunch the days of the workshop.
Downtown El Segundo is a few walkable steps away with adorable shops and unique restaurants.

Shahrzad's Signature Tabla Technique!
Learn all of the secrets to endless shimmies and intricate belly isolations in this challenging technique and combination workshop! Shahrzad will break down her favourite techniques for tabla solo, drill to the latest upbeat music from Cairo, and work into combinations with a Tabla Solo from her latest CD.
Limited to 50 students.

In this intensive Shahrzad will be exploring how technique varies as we move through different musical genres and how we can approach and develop our own unique musicality with each genre while staying authentic to the style.

Revisit the base of the dance starting with an intensive technique session working on the signature moves of Egyptian dance and how they flow naturally to the base rhythms of the music.

The first step to dancing in a more authentic way is to groove like a local! Examine the modern social stylizations of the dance and music including musicality, techniques, and Egyptian gestures, working them into combinations with some of the latest songs.

Enjoy a slow-flow class, working through slow technique and transitions and working into improvisation drills.

From taqsim we will flow into baladi progression, breaking down signature baladi moves and technique stylization and working into drills which pace our combination to the gradual changes in the music as it progresses from slow to fast.
